In today’s world of insurance, understanding each policy can be challenging for the patient as well as your dental team. Every employer along with the insurance company negotiates the benefits and exclusions of the policy to determine the best premium for the employer and employee. In some cases, in order for premiums to be affordable, the benefits offered may not include everything that is needed to care for the patient.

Prior to the appointment, we do verify your insurance and get a detailed benefit summary. At this time we are informed from the insurance company that “the information given is not a guarantee of payment”, therefore, we are unable to guarantee payment amounts from insurance.  Please understand that we do obtain a detailed breakdown of benefits for each insurance policy however; due to maximums, open claims, exclusions, and other undisclosed details from your insurance which are not within our control, the amount we anticipate your insurance to pay is always an estimate.  Insurance is ultimately a contract between the patient and the insurance company.

At the initial exam, you will be provided with a detailed treatment plan, which will give you an estimate of the patient portion due at the time of service. We are happy to provide you with the necessary codes in the event you would like to contact your insurance company pertaining to coverage.

As a courtesy, Killeen Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery will file your insurance claim. We will assist you in obtaining payment from your insurance company. We ask that you remain involved in the status of your account therefore; you will receive monthly statements regardless of insurance status. If your insurance has not made payment within sixty days of the initial visit, we require payment be made by you and we will be happy to refund you in the event your insurance does make payment at a later date.  

If you have secondary insurance, we are happy to coordinate your claims for you.  We will collect the patient portion due taking into consideration only the primary insurance benefit since the secondary insurance can not determine what they may pay until the explanation of benefits is received from the primary insurance.  Once all claims are paid, you would receive a refund for any over payment.

Please be prepared to provide us with your insurance information when you call to schedule the initial exam.  We will verify your insurance prior to calling you to confirm all appointments in order to prepare you in advance for any copay that would be due.
